Growing up here in Perth, south of the river, I have a bit of a soft spot for the Swan estuary and Canning river environments. This special water body is a defining feature of the city’s landscape and our lifestyle.
I am collecting short stories and poems about people’s experiences on the Swan and Canning rivers,
particularly as youths.
I am interested in stories from people of all ages.
People can contribute by submitting something written or by having a chat with me.
These edited stories will be examined and gathered together in a publishable form.
I want create a record of local stories to share with the broader community
that illustrates what we have enjoyed doing in, on and around the river, in the past and in the present.
Our relationship with the river and how it changes over time interests me.
What do we enjoy doing around the river and where?
Why do we interact with the river?
Have our activities and interests in the river changed over time?
What do we value from the Swan River environment?
I am collecting stories NOW, up until winter (June/July) 2007.
Please get in touch if you have something to share!
